The biggest feature of PETG compared with PET is that PETG film meets the concept of environmental protection and food FDA certification, PETG is now increasingly being focused on related products at home and abroad.
PET is mainly used in food packaging films and textile fibers and other applications. Nowadays, it is increasing in use as a packaging material, not only for soda drink bottles but also for non-crystalline PET, crystalline PET cans and plates. In the last five years, engineering grade PET and copolyester, as new polymer products, have been used for engineering and specialty packaging materials, respectively.
PET's successful use in soda beverage packaging materials is due to its toughness and clarity, orientation capabilities, excellent economic value and the development of high speed bottle processing technology. PET beverage cans are light weight, shatter resistant, reusable and have very good air tight properties, making them labor, energy and cost saving in all stages of the process from producer to consumer.
Stretch blow molding grades of PET are available in solid, green and yellowish PET. the polymer colored in the reactor does not require recombination that adversely affects physical properties and improves color uniformity. The PET copolymer crystallizes slowly, which allows it to produce high quality soda beverage bottles over a wide range of processing conditions. An extrusion blow moldable polymer is also available. This material combines excellent melt strength with a slow crystallization rate and can be easily processed on suitable extrusion blow molding equipment.
Other end uses for PET are in extrusion coating and extrusion molding films and sheets. pet is used as an extrusion coating material for bake-able cardboard packaging, and crystalline PET (CPET) can also be used as a base material for making plates in ovens.
PETG copolyester is another example of the many copolyesters available. Unlike PCTA, which is modified with acid, PETG is a diol-modified polymer made by combining CHDM diol with TPA (terephthalic acid) and ethylene glycol. Petg copolyester can be molded or extruded and usually retains its amorphous nature, transparency and is practically colorless, even in very large cross-sections.
It has high stiffness, hardness and good toughness, even at low temperatures, and PETG can be extruded and blow molded at melt temperatures between 400-450F to make clear bottles for shampoos, liquid detergents, hygiene products, mineral oils and food packaging. This material meets FDA standards for food contact.
The quality of RPETG shrink film is the same as that of shrink film made from new (original) raw materials. Like regular PETG shrink film, it is mainly used for making shrink sleeve labels (shrink labels). No changes are required during the use of the shrink sleeve labels, including printing methods, inks, glues and sleeves. Besides having all the advantages and performance of ordinary PETG shrink film, it can also reduce CO2 emission and is more environmentally friendly. One bottle of recycling can make 10 shrink labels.
RPETG shrink film can be used as shrink labels in different fields such as: food, beverage, craft beer, wine and spirits, nutritional products, private label, household products, personal care, automotive, etc.
